“These Whiskey Mornings ain’t what they used to be”
‘Whiskey Mornings’ the latest single from Clare singer songwriter David Hope
is a song dedicated to hangovers as one gets older. Hope explains “Once up on
a time in your twenties after a session on the drink, all ya needed was a few
hours sleep followed by a breakfast roll and you’d be right as rain, but now
being over forty hangovers start at 6am with what feels like a St Patricks Day
Parade route over/through your head, the daylight hurts, Paracetamol doesn’t
work and day of misery and self-loathing is all you’ve to look forward to”
This is the third single taken from Hope’s new studio album “…And the Sea”
due for release in September ’22. It was recorded at Monique Studios,
Midleton, Co. Cork by producer and drummer Christian Best. The track has a
breezy feel good vibe in spite of its dark overtones, as it leaves the listener
bopping and singing along to the bizarrely catchy “Tryin’ to be good” refrain.
